Women’s Marches were virtually instigated and individually responded to-- becoming the largest resistance demonstration in history. Women as individuals and as a gender are rising and empowering each other in circles, marches, and conferences. Together women have the potential of moving humanity toward an evolutionary egalitarian era in human history. A UN Fifth World Conference on Women (5WCW) would accelerate this through role modeling, information, and inspiration. Women and girls together and individually are the only force that can change the hearts and minds of men whose psychology and politics are moving humanity toward a new Dark Age.
For women to become empowered and equal, courage and voice need to be mobilized in individuals who find they are supported when they do, such as #MeToo movement. Political will at the top depends on participation of women, media attention and grassroots activism. There is a growing momentum for change and resistance to change. 5WCW is needed for progress toward equality and diversity.
Purpose: Urge your government and your country’s UN Mission that now is the time to support a General Assembly resolution for a 5th World Conference on Women. Note the 2012 Joint Statement from the Secretary General and President of the General Assembly that urged such a resolution. Urge India to become the Host Country. Urge NGO-CSW New York to join NGO CSW-Geneva to support 5WCW.

March 23, Public Lecture: Catching Fire: Imagination, Creativity, Activism.
Imagination precedes change—psyche is activated by stories, role models, and dreams that touch soul. Passion and imagination precedes creativity, healing, activism on behalf of ourselves and others. Compassionate action is spiritual activism. Fierce compassion says “enough is enough!” Outrage in defense of what and who we love is mother bear activism or the protective masculine that finds the strength to rise up to save what we love, a precious part of ourselves or of our world. It takes courage and love for a vision of who we could be, or what we could do-- to catch fire.
March 24, Workshop for Women: Your One Wild and Precious Life
The premise of Jean’s Jungian and spiritual perspective begins with the certainty that it matters what we do with our “one wild and precious life,” a quote from the poet, Mary Oliver. Most of us have an innate sense that there is a purpose to life related to the idea that life is a soul journey. To do what we came to do and be who we were meant to be is not so easy. Especially in the midst of unchosen circumstance. Vulnerability and loss are both mythic and deeply personal experiences--as is aging. What now? Jung’s individuation, Campbell’s finding your personal myth, the hero or heroine’s journey, Persephone’s abduction into the underworld, Hecate at the crossroad, Atalanta-Artemis in the wilderness, are archetypal patterns that can provide insights to support us on our journeys.

The grail and goddesses are archetypes, symbols with depth and meaning. In this workshop, Jean Shinoda Bolen will bring us into the legendary, mythic and spiritual realm of the sacred feminine. Cut off from sources of meaning, without a connection to the feminine principle, the Tao or the Self, the inner landscape of men and women becomes a wasteland. The wounded Fisher King and the abduction of Persephone are metaphors for depression, alienation, life-threatening illness, and addictions on a personal level, that are related to the loss of creativity, spontaneity, and love. These are also metaphors for what ails the planet. We will listen to Jean tell stories, participate in a guided meditation and in circles with a sacred center. This workshop will provide opportunities to be in touch with inner sources of wisdom and compassion, encourage creating circles, and inspire
possibilities of change and transformation.

Keynote: Reflections about the Soul and the Journey: How Did You Get Here? How Did I Get Here?
Each of us has a personal narrative of how we got here-- “here” meaning to this Jungian oriented Dream and Spirituality conference as a time for reflection upon the soul and Self. Every individual soul journey has had its own unique twists and turns, a path can be seen as spiral or labyrinthine. The tension or integration of opposites is inner work, between spirituality and religion, between gnosis and logos, between perceptions of the invisible and visible. I sometimes say tongue in cheek, and in truth, that my religious orientation is “Episcopagan” which reflects my own journey from Presbyterian and Girl Scout, to Episcopalian and Jungian, to a spirituality without labels.
Workshop: Reflections on the Soul and the Journey: Questions and Amplifications
I would like each of these workshops to grow out of a Q & A (Amplification) format. To participants: after you hear my plenary talk, what do you want to hear more about? I like to answer a specific question, or respond to an archetypal dream and put these into a broader context. If a myth or a biblical story comes to my mind, I would tell it and why.

Emergence of Feminine Wisdom and the End of Patriarchy: the Process of Evolutionary Change in Individuals and Humanity – Jean
One thousand years ago, the unfinished story of wounded Fisher King, the Wasteland, and the mysterious Grail absorbed the storytellers of the eleventh century. The wheel of time turns, and now at the beginning of the 21st Century, humanity and planet are in crisis: Chinese pictograph for Crisis combines two characters: Danger + Opportunity. Patriarchy has brought humanity and the planet to the brink of destruction, at the same time that humanity could be at the threshold of evolutionary psychological and spiritual transformation with the emergence of the feminine. When new life is emerging through the birth canal, the most dangerous phase is called “transition.” This is where we are now.
Moving Toward the Millionth Circle -- Jean
It began with an Aha! that led Jean to write The Millionth Circle (hundredth monkey, millionth circle—Bingo!). The book seeded circles with a sacred center. inspired the Millionth Circle Initiative, brought her to the UN in 2002, and led to her advocacy for a UN 5th World Conference on Women (5WCW), the first since Beijing 1995 and internet communication. Jung’s collective unconscious and Rupert Sheldrake’s morphic field theory provides an understanding of how deep change happens at the archetypal level. Soul journey, individuation, “assignment,”
Orienting in the Dark: Dream Wisdom addressing our Collective Times - Monika
When we hold space for the spirit of the times to meet the spirit of the depths, as Jung articulated it, in our own experience, dreams, and active imagination we may become more able to witness and be present in the world as it is. Fresh connection with the deeper psyche and psychoid helps us discover new ways of being, witnessing, and healing with the living waters of the psyche, for the good of all sentient beings, so imperative in these times. We will consider a number of unique visionary dreams that address the individual and the collective specific to these times. With the reality of the invisible worlds that inform our dreams, we will look to the guidance and revelatory presence in the deeper psyche to help us once again, find our humble transformative place in the family of things.
Prayer for the World Soul: Experiences of Ash and Its Alchemical Mysteries - Monika
Life brings each of us human experiences of grief, loss, death, and the resulting openings in these experiences to the psyche where healing and greater wholeness may emerge. Jung wrote, “we are threatened with universal genocide if we cannot work out the way of salvation by a symbolic death.” (Jung, Letters Vol. I, p. 586.) Ash takes us into the realms of symbolic death mysteries. Meditations on the alchemy on ash open us to the mysteries of the soul and spirit that may be at work during times of loss, grief and change in our individual lives and in the collective. We will meditate on the mysteries of ash via myth, dream, fairy tale, film, and life where we may discover the profound presence of the greater psyche emerging from the ash, and the gifts that emanate into our world from these experiences.
